Mission Statement
Our mission is to build a township government that is open, accountable, and accessible—where residents are informed, respected, and actively engaged in shaping the future of our community through transparent decision-making, responsible stewardship, and meaningful public participation.
How the AHRPA Began
The AHRPA grew from conversations among residents who believed there was an opportunity to strengthen transparency, accountability, and meaningful public participation in local government. While some of its founders first worked together during the debate over short-term rental regulations, AHRPA emerged much later as discussions continued across the township. Over time it became clear that concerns extended far beyond any single issue. Residents from diverse backgrounds recognized the need for a constructive, independent citizens’ association dedicated to encouraging informed public engagement, respectful dialogue, and good governance.
Today, the AHRPA brings together people with many different perspectives on growth, development, business, and public policy. What unites us is not agreement on every issue, but a shared belief that healthy communities are built through transparency, accountability, collaboration, and an engaged citizenry. The Association continues to evolve with the goal of strengthening civic participation and helping ensure that the voices of residents remain an essential part of shaping the future of our community.
AHRPA: Building Community Together
The Alnwick-Haldimand Ratepayers Association (AHRPA) is a new, non-partisan organization founded by local residents who believe strong communities are built through connection, respectful dialogue, and active participation. We bring together people from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives because every resident deserves to have their voice heard.
Our vision is simple: to help strengthen our community by encouraging open communication, supporting local initiatives, and fostering positive relationships between residents and Council. We are an independent residents’ association, focused on collaboration, not politics.
AHRPA is committed to creating opportunities for community engagement. We will host a public All-Candidates Forum during the municipal election so residents can hear directly from those seeking office. Beyond the election, we hope to become a trusted community partner that encourages meaningful dialogue, informed decision-making, and greater resident involvement.
A vibrant community makes room for different viewpoints while working together toward a common goal: making Alnwick-Haldimand an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.
Everyone is welcome to be part of AHRPA. We hope you’ll join us in building a stronger community together.
